Statue
Like a child seeing his shadow for the first time...
I discover that bees do not drink directly from the pool.
They do this by clinging to the freshly wet walls,
right where the water is shaken.
That limit is the thin line between quenching your thirst and your death.
I, who can be a source or an executioner, am inside bathing.
There are several insects floating on the surface around me,
disastrously defeated in such a vital feat.
If I move them outside they will be food for the ants.
Just then, a wasp flutters along the edge. It lands.
Every time I move the water gets more agitated.
I decide to be a statue and wait, watching her.
The water calms down.
She rehydrates herself and resumes her journey. She survives.
We are just… wind carrying seeds.
